Is my data safe?

The specifics matter more than a blanket reassurance. Lex separates one organization’s records from another’s and applies the storage, transport and model routing configured for that firm. Ask KlusAI for the current processing terms, sub-processor information and complete data flow before uploading client material; professional-secrecy decisions remain with the firm.

Inside the product, separation is structural rather than a setting somebody could get wrong. Everything you see belongs to the organization you are signed into: one firm never sees another firm’s clients, case files or documents. Within your firm, you work with the client records you own, while shared material — contact persons, your firm’s document collections — is available to colleagues whose role includes it.

When provisioned, Super Private can route supported AI inference to a KlusAI Outpost node in the office. Conversation and document services still use the configured platform services. Confirm the complete data path for your deployment instead of treating local inference as an all-on-premises claim.

How accurate are the AI answers?

No AI system guarantees complete accuracy. Lex exposes several verification aids when retrieval returns supporting material:

An answer may contain numbered source markers and source cards. Open the cards and confirm both their identity and their correspondence to each marker.
The interface may show a grounding badge: grounded in binding legislation, grounded in binding case law, based on persuasive sources only, or no sources found with a note saying what was searched.
When an answer names an article without a clickable citation, Lex either shows you that article’s text (with its consolidation date, and a repeal marker where it applies) or flags the reference as unverified.
The interface may warn about an unsupported provision or empty retrieval. Current beta evidence does not certify refusal for every unsupported claim, so absence of a warning is not evidence that an answer is supported.

Use Flag as incorrect on any answer that is wrong; you can categorise it as incorrect, a hallucination, outdated, or something else, and add a comment.

What legislation is included?

Consolidated Romanian legislation from the Ministry of Justice legislative portal, covering seven codes: the Civil Code, the Code of Civil Procedure, the Criminal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Labour Code, the Fiscal Code and the Code of Fiscal Procedure.

Each is indexed down to article and paragraph, keeping the structural path and the consolidation date, with repealed provisions marked rather than removed and each article deep-linked to its place on the official portal.

Alongside the codes: Constitutional Court decisions, whose full text is extracted from the PDFs published on ccr.ro and indexed — not merely the listing summaries — and court case data from portal.just.ro together with Supreme Court files from the scj.ro archive.

Refresh jobs are designed to run on a schedule, but freshness depends on the provisioned environment and successful ingestion. Check the document/source status and consolidation date. The consolidated text on legislatie.just.ro remains the authority.

Acts outside those seven codes are not part of the indexed corpus. If a question turns on one, upload the text into one of your firm’s collections and it becomes searchable like any other document. Full detail: Legislation and case-law research.

Can I upload my firm’s documents?

Yes — that is where Lex becomes useful about your practice rather than about Romanian law in general. PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, image and plain-text files are accepted; duplicates are skipped; processing then runs asynchronously. A file is searchable only after it shows Ready with non-zero indexed passages.

Documents go into a knowledge base — a collection you choose, and can organise by practice area or by client. They belong to your firm: another firm can never see them, and they are not used to train AI models without your explicit consent. Within your firm, colleagues whose role includes document access can search the same collections, which is what makes shared precedent work.

For one-off questions you can drop a file straight into a conversation without adding it to a collection, and personal data in attachments is replaced with placeholders before the file reaches the AI model — on by default, switchable with the shield in the composer.

How much does it cost?

Does Lex replace portal.just.ro?

No. portal.just.ro remains the official source for case information, and Lex treats it that way: where the two differ, the portal is right.

What Lex adds is organisation around the official record. In a provisioned, healthy connector environment, linking a case file can import court metadata and hearings and scheduled refresh can record later changes. This automation is a preview capability; confirm the portal link and verify every actionable date on the portal.

Can I try before paying?

Lex accounts are created by invitation rather than open self-registration. Use Request a demo to discuss the firm’s use case; any pilot, trial and commercial terms are agreed during onboarding.

What happens if the AI makes a mistake?

Lex is an assistance tool, not a substitute for professional judgement. Responsibility for legal acts, strategy and advice remains with the lawyer, under the professional statute and the deontological code. Lex is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.

The design assumption is that mistakes are possible. Retrieval, source cards, warnings and AI-assisted labels are verification aids, not proof that every claim is supported. Independently verify results and confirm source identity, marker mapping and cited passages before using them or passing them on.

If you find a wrong answer, flag it — the categories exist so that patterns of error can be found and fixed.

Other things people ask

Can I work in English? Yes. Lex opens in Romanian; the Language panel on your Account page switches to English. That setting also governs the assistant, which replies in your interface language whatever language you write in — unless you explicitly ask for another. Quotations from statutes, decisions and documents keep their original wording either way.

What happens when the court portal is unreachable? Treat the case file as stale and verify it on the portal. The interface can mark a failed initial link as not portal-linked. Retry and notification behavior is preview-only until it is proved in the firm’s environment.

Who gets the deadline reminders? Reminder preferences exist in the product, but durable recipient selection, deduplication and scheduled delivery are preview-only. Do not rely on Lex reminders in a live matter until the firm’s environment has passed that delivery proof.

Can I see a colleague’s diary? The calendar has a Team view covering the deadlines on case files where you are the responsible lawyer or a team member, and an owner filter. It is scoped to your involvement, not to the whole firm.
